Control of modulational instability in periodic feedback systems

Abstract

We describe the effect of optical lattice on modulational instability in two-dimensional nonlinear feedback systems. We reveal a sharp transition between different instability regimes as the lattice strength is increased, providing explanation of recent experiments.
