Abstract

The optical properties of liquid crystal (LC) gratings with a mobile glass substrate were investigated for optical displacement sensor applications. The relative positional shift of the substrate can be determined because the diffraction efficiency depends on the displacement of the mobile glass substrate. Moreover, the appropriate applied voltage for measuring the displacement was discussed.
