Abstract
We investigate the conversion of orbital angular momentum in type II second harmonic generation with arbitrary topological charges imprinted on two orthogonally polarized beams. We investigate the multimode coupling determined by the spatial overlap integral between the modes participating in the process. A quite curious effect is the generation of higher radial orders when modes carrying opposite helicities are combined in the non linear crystal. Our results are supported by experimental measurements that fairly agree with the theoretical predictions.
