Rate-Equation Model of Light-Induced Heating in LiNbO3-type Crystals under High-Average-Power Laser Irradiation

Abstract

Light-induced heating under high-average-power laser is investigated in LiNbO3-type crystals in green second-harmonic generation. The accumulation effect of polarons causes catastrophic breakdown of crystals. A rate-equation model is proposed to evaluate the threshold intensity.
