A Mid-Infrared Mode-locked Fiber Laser for Frequency Combs

Abstract

We demonstrate a fiber laser emitting 497fs pulses near 3µm using a mid-IR transparent fluoride fiber doped with Erbium. The potential of this laser as a source for a mid-IR fiber-based frequency comb is explored.
