Abstract

We present a thermally managed pump-probe Z-scan technique to characterize the nonthermal third-order optical nonlinearities of photonic materials using continuum lasers. The technique combines both the Thermally managed eclipse Z-scan and the two-color Z-scan techniques, allowing to obtain nonthermal nonlinear refraction index values of photonic materials at different wavelengths, pumping with a high-repetition-rate femtosecond laser at 800nm and probing with low power CW lasers. The method is demonstrated by measuring the nonlinear refractive index in CS2.
