Enhanced Nonlinear Optical Effects due to the Excitation of Optical Tamm Plasmon Polaritons in a One-Dimensional Metal-Photonic Crystal Structure

Abstract

We suggest optimal 1D photonic crystal structures for the excitation of optical Tamm plasmon polaritons, where an extremely large enhancement of the electromagnetic field is achieved. We find much lower thresholds to observe optical bistability.
