Abstract

We report our experimental demonstrations on enhanced nonlinear optical response of light-tunneling heterostructures, and review recent theoretical investigations on exploiting their nonlinear optical properties and applications including resonance-enhanced excitation of surface plasmon polaritons, nonlinear nonreciprocal transmission and all-optical diode action.
