Abstract

Nonlinear optics based on plasma density gratings is studied experimentally. Enhancement of relativistic third-harmonic generation by quasi-phase matching in periodic plasma waveguides is achieved, and degenerate four-wave mixing mediated by ponderomotive-force-driven plasma gratings is demonstrated.
