A scheme for the generation of intense short optical pulses via frequency modulation and nonlinear pulse compression

Abstract

We propose a new scheme for the generation of intense short optical pulses. The method takes advantage of nonlinear compression via appropriate frequency modulation, and allows tuning of both the pulse amplitude and its width.
