Abstract

We present measurements of the second order nonlinear susceptibility tensor χ(2) for isotropic air-exposed Al films and for structurally isotropic, but magnetic Ni81Fc19 films. These measurements provide new insight into the large second harmonic Kerr effect observed for magnetic materials.
