Measurement of group velocity of light in a volume index grating of photorefractive LiNbO3 crystals

Abstract

We investigate the group velocity of light at the bandedge of an one-dimensional index grating in a photorefractive LiNbO3 crystal. We obtained a large group index of up to 7.5 in a 5-cm crystal sample.
