Observation of a stable coherent self-trapped vortex light beam in a self-focusing medium

Abstract

We observe a stable coherent self-trapped vortex light beam in a noninstantaneous self-focusing medium. The stabilization, confirmed by numerical simulation, is achieved by adding small time-varying azimuthally-periodic modulation on the vortex light beam.
