Suppression of Vectorial Modulation Instability due to Structural Nonuniformity in Photonic Crystal Fiber

Abstract

Scalar and vectorial modulational instability processes in photonic crystal fibers are studied using both experiments and numerical simulations. Structural irregularities in the fiber hole distribution are shown to suppress polarization dependent vectorial modulational instability.
