Abstract

We suggest and develop a concept of Bloch-wave engineering in nonlinear periodic structures that allows for a control of the soliton mobility and interactions between discrete, gap, and multi-gap solitons in waveguide arrays. We also propose a new approach to the soliton switching based on Bloch-wave filtering.
