Near-field imaging of nonlinear spatiotemporal focusing in a planar silica waveguide

Abstract

Transverse spatial profiles of pulsed beams, propagating inside planar waveguides, are measured as function of input power. The results show self-focusing, followed by breakup, and are in good agreement with numerical simulations.
