Towards long lengths of silica fiber with permanent second order nonlinearities

Abstract

Over 20G m of low loss optical fiber was manufactured with an internal wire electrode. A 0.9 m section of the fiber was thermally poled, inducing a permanent second order nonlinearity of 0.0125 pm/V.
