Clustering in weakly correlated wavef ronts

Abstract

We observe the spontaneous clustering of solitons in partially coherent wavefronts during the final stages of pattern formation initiated by modulation instability and noise. Experiments are conducted in biased photorefractives and corroborated by numerical simulations.
