Abstract

Several techniques have recently been studied for making optical amplifiers with bandwidths exceeding the 35 nm available with conventional EDFA's. They include: dual-band silica EDFA's[,]; tellurite EDFA's[1], possibly assisted by Raman gain; Raman amplifiers with multiple pumps[3].
