Structural optimization of ultimate low loss air-guiding photonic bandgap fibers

Abstract

The surface-mode free condition for several structural-parameters is investigated in air-guiding photonic bandgap fiber (PBGF). We propose a novel type of PBGF without surface-modes which exhibits lower scattering losses as compared with 19-cell-core structures.
