Network Planning and Architecture Analysis of Wavelength Blocking in Optical and Digital ROADM Networks

Abstract

Detailed network planning analysis indicates wavelength blocking in all-optical ROADM networks incurs additional OEO for wavelength conversion, and constrains service reconfiguration. Analyses show that digital ROADM systems mitigate these problems and may provide greater service flexibility.
