Characterization of Cladding Modes for the Design of Long-Period Fiber Gratings

Abstract

We propose a method to measure the dispersion characteristics of the cladding modes of a single-mode fiber for the design of long-period gratings. The phase-matching curves for the first 19 symmetric cladding modes are obtained.
