Abstract

This paper will cover the cabling (optical) properties of TrueWave® REACH, a medium dispersion, low dispersion-slope fiber. An extensive comparison of optical fiber properties with the corresponding cable properties on a large volume of fiber (more than 30 fMm) will be presented. The emphasis will be on the attenuation and PMD for cabled fiber compared with that of bare fiber. The cable is a single jacket, single armor, loose tube construction (MiDia® FX cable from OFS) with minimum 24 fibers.
