Abstract

The desire to deliver new Ethernet services has carriers evaluating a wide range of technologies. This paper examines some of the more promising delivery options, from leveraging existing PDH and SONET infrastructures to new fiber builds. All of these options may have their place in carrier networks. This paper attempts to articulate those circumstances where each option is appropriate.
