Microwave Studies of Degenerate Band Edge Photonic Crystals

Abstract

Novel photonic metamaterials have been engineered from spatially periodic, strongly birefringent dielectric materials and have been studied with microwaves to demonstrate extraordinary field amplitude growth within their structure at the photonic band edge transmission resonances.
