Localization of Sound in an Open Three-Dimensional System

Abstract

We report signatures of the localization of ultrasonic waves in a disordered 3D network of aluminum beads. We measure both intensity statistics and time-dependent transmission, and compare with theoretical predictions for the dynamics of localization.
