Extraordinary transmission of terahertz electromagnetic waves through 2-dimensional metallic photonic crystal

Abstract

We demonstrate extraordinary THz transmission thorough free-standing metal wire meshes using THz time-domain spectroscopy. We treat the meshes as metamaterial slabs and show that the extraordinary transmission is occurred at the reduced plasma frequency.
