Dual quarter-wave retardation based polarization beam splitting in photonic crystal slabs

Abstract

We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally that a photonic crystal slab with form birefringence can act as a dual quarter-wave retarder based polarizing beamsplitter, which separates an incoming wave into two orthogonal polarizations.
