Enhanced interface layer and mechanical property of laser dissimilar welding of aluminum and magnesium alloys via beam oscillation

Abstract

A defect-free Al/Mg dissimilar lap-joint with shear strength up to ~98 MPa was achieved by laser oscillating welding with Ti as interlayer. Beam oscillation increases the connection area and stabilizes the process, causing superior welds.
