Using terahertz pulses to investigate corrosion under paints

Abstract

High-resolution terahertz images of metal sheets exposures to salt-water. The images show the precursors to gross corrosion which are not visible in the optical image. Waveforms are distorted by the surface roughness of the corrosion.
