Abstract
Fibertek, Inc. is privileged to have designed and manufactured the laser transmitters for a number of successful space-based active remote sensing missions. These include the NASA-CNES CALIPSO cloud aerosol lidar, the planned NASA-GSFC ICESat-2 ice, cloud and land elevation lidar and several shorter duration ladar demonstration missions. In this paper we will discuss design and performance of the laser transmitters and lessons learned on these programs that should help improve reliability and performance of future space-based active remote sensing systems.
