Abstract

Monolithic mode-field-adapters using graded-index-fibers are assembled following a simple, cheap and reproducible procedure. We report 0 dB insertion loss between two SMFs with mismatched mode-field-diameters and 20 dB coupling improvement between SMF and large-mode-area PCF.
