Maximizing Orbital Angular Momentum Exhibited by Fundamental Modes of Silicon Strip Waveguides

Abstract

We maximize the orbital angular momentum of fundamental silicon waveguide modes by optimizing the cross-section. The maximum computed values for SiO2 and air cladding are 0.36 and 0.52 h/2π per photon, respectively, at 1550 nm wavelength.
