Measurements of the Nonlinear Optical Response of Semiconductors with Intense 10µm Laser Pulses

Abstract

We measure four-wave mixing efficiency and nonlinear absorption in GaAs, Ge, and ZnSe using a GW/cm2 CO2 laser. At high fields the nonlinear optical response can be enhanced almost 100x by decreasing the beat frequency.
