Nanophotonic sensing structures: photonic crystals, photonic wires and metamaterials - evaluated and compared

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Devices based on nanophotonic principles are likely to find widespread application in various sensing situations - particularly in the domain of bio-medicine. Both photonic crystal microcavities and metamaterial surfaces are promising - and will be explored.
