Abstract

We perform spectral-hole burning laser frequency stabilization with a fractional frequency noise of 0.8<sup>+1.1</sup> <sub>-0.2</sub>×10<sup>-16</sup> at 1000 s. Several properties of Eu<sup>3+</sup>:Y<sub>2</sub>SiO<sub>5</sub> spectral holes are measured, including an upper bound of the thermomechanical noise floor at 3.4×10<sup>-17</sup> (50% confidence)
