The X-Ray View of Ultrafast Nanomagnetism

Abstract

Femtosecond x-ray pulses from synchrotrons and free electron lasers are used to probe angular momentum dynamics in magnetic materials. Such studies reveal how optical excitation can be used to controle magnetic interactions on microscopic length and timescales.
