Cystovirus ϕ6 Structure Probed by Stokes Shift Fluorescence Spectroscopy

Abstract

Fluorescence Stokes shift measurements of tryptophan in bacteriophage ϕ 6 were used to determine solvent exposure. It is determined that the envelope proteins are in a more hydrophobic environment than internal proteins of the polymerase complex.
