Coherent Acoustic Phonon Generation in Exciton Self-Trapping: Dependence on Coupling Strength

Abstract

The dynamics of self-trapped exciton formation are studied in quasi-one-dimensional systems using femtosecond impulsive excitation techniques. Low temperature measurements reveal the generation of coherent acoustic waves associated with the formation of the localized lattice deformation.
