Single Quantum Dots for Probing Local Environments

Abstract

The intermittent emission of individual quantum dots makes it challenging to probe time-dependent changes. We explain strategies to overcome these difficulties and discuss using them as ratiometric resonance energy transfer-based probes and as temperature sensors.
