Generating Ultra-Short Pulses from a Q-Switched Microchip Laser

Abstract

A numerical model, based on the laser rate equations, was used to predict the performance of passively Q-switched microchip lasers. The resulting designs were realised and shown to exhibit pulses of ~ 140 ps duration.
