Abstract

We present a summary of a procedure for calculating a nonlinear fiber capacity limit estimate for optically-routed networks. We present nonlinear Kerr fiber capacity results for single-mode fibers and discuss spatial multiplexing in multicore and multimode fibers as a way to increase capacity.
