Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present some preliminary results of the Generalized Extremal Optimization algorithm (GEO) applied to the problem of optical systems design. Two versions of GEO were used in the design of an air spaced triplet lens system, and their results compared to the ones obtained with a hybrid Genetic Algorithm.
