Abstract

We demonstrate a Yb-doped fiber amplifier (YDFA) designed for large aperture bidirectional laser phased arrays locked to a remote coherent Beacon. The amplifier is CW, single-mode (λ = 1064 nm), gain of 30 dB, high slope efficiency of 86 ± 2.2% extremely large dynamic range > 100 dB and broad temperature range with low residual phase noise of 30 mrad when the array is phase locked to the Beacon.
