Abstract

We measured the thermal expansion coefficient α of the β - BaB₂O₄ (BBO) nonlinear crystal to settle the long-lasting dispute existing in the literature. We measured α_⊥c ≈ 1.0 × 10^–⁶ K^–¹ and α_kc ≈ 32.8 × 10^–⁶ K^–¹ by X-ray single-crystal diffractometry.
