Abstract

The 3/4 tone-controllable (TC) code for holographic data storage (HDS) system can control the ratio of ON and OFF pixels on each data page [1]. If the ratio of ON and OFF pixels is 25%:75% in each data page, then the holographic memory capacity can be increased by 15% [2]. The low-density parity-check (LDPC) code is one of the best error correcting system for data storage system. A distinct characteristic of the LDPC code is that the bit error rate (BER) performance is improved when the input is not hard-valued but soft-valued [3].
