Reliable Optical Disk Geometry at High Operating Speed

Abstract

All polycarbonate optical disks, including BD and HD-DVD, are possible to be crushed in a disk drive at high-speed operation. In this study, disk crushing phenomenon is investigated with fracture mechanics and new disk geometry is proposed.
