Abstract

Simplified adaptive optical systems (AOS) for the eye& rsquo;s interior imaging can be realized with the help of a single spatial light modulator (SLM) used as a programmable diffractive optical element. There are two basic possible approaches. First of them relies on using the SLM in sequential mode, i.e., by implementing alternately the wavefront sensor and the compensator, whereas the second solution acts in spatial division mode, i.e., the active surface of the SLM is divided into two separate areas performing the aforementioned procedures.
