Abstract

The spectral responses of a superlens with triangular-lattice and square-lattice photonic crystal structures were studied by simulation using the finite element method. The simulation predicts the smallest focusing spot size of λ/3.9 in the near field of the square-lattice photonic crystal superlens. The application of such a superlens in super-resolution imaging will be demonstrated by a near-field scanning microscope.
