Abstract

We have developed a three-dimensional vectorial finite element method (FEM) program which offers the flexibility to model 3D diffraction gratings with arbitrary geometry. The FEM satisfies the energy conservation relation and allows us to analyze periodic structures such as photonic crystals and metamaterials.
